Ruben Amorim has identified Manchester United’s biggest problem as “the way we compete” and admitted that the attitude and mentality in the squad must change.
Amorim has won 15 of his 38 games in all competitions since his appointment in November.
In the Premier League alone, there are six victories of 25 for United who sit 16th in the overall ranking and can only take the 13th place in the last two rounds of the season.
The Portuguese, who supervised two title winners with former Side Sporting CP and had them as another on the other than he went, described this recording as “embarrassing” when he demanded a change this summer. However, it is not expected that there are any changes in the shelter because United Amorim will not be released, even if you do not win the Europa League.
Amorim said: “Something is true in the way we play football”, but not “tactical and technically”. It depends on a culture that accepts drawings and losses, a foreign concept for the successful earlier generations of years that have passed.
“It is the way we face the competition and how we suffer and how we get angry because we lose, and the way we protect the goal. We have to improve these things, and sometimes it is not just within the field, it is outside the field,” he explained.
“This feeling that I am talking to the fight until the end of how we look for the competition. It is wrong to lose, it is not okay.
“It does not matter whether we can change our position in the league or not,” added the head coach and referred to the current run of seven Win-Less Premier League games, at a time when a competitive domestic finish had long been out of reach.
“This feeling is nothing about trust. It is about faith and understanding that we are Manchester United and we don’t want to be the worst in the league. Our position is unacceptable and for me it is not a lack of trust, that is a lack of something deepless.”
