Nottingham Forest plot surprise bid for Premier League rival’s £35million striker

TalkSPORT understands Jean-Philippe Mateta is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest ahead of a potential move in January.

The 28-year-old is being heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park before the winter transfer window slams shut.

Mateta is a Palace legend who helped the club win the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2025.

Mateta is known to be interested in leaving the south London club, although he has not yet submitted a transfer request.

Juventus have held talks to sign the Frenchman but are unwilling to meet the Eagles’ valuation for the striker, which is believed to be around £35m.

The old lady’s Serie A rival, AC Milan, is also considered an admirer of the 2024 Olympic silver medalist.

Aston Villa has emerged as another potential destination where Mateta could challenge for the Premier League title.

Now, remarkably, Forest have jumped into the race for Mateta’s services as they await a surprise swoop.

Relegation-threatened Forest are currently in 17th place – two places and three points behind Palace in the table.
