Pep Guardiola hails impact of ‘extraordinary’ January signing

Pep Guardiola, Manager of Manchester City, has announced that one of the club’s many obligations already had a major impact and is “incredible” in the changing room.

During the transfer window, City spent more than £ 170 million for four arrivals from the first team and wasted little time to make squad overhaul in the middle of her worst season in almost a decade.

Abdukodir Khusanov was first recruited through the door and for around 33.6 million GBP from the Ligue -1 Clubinse. He is the first player from Uzbekistan in the history of the Premier League, but it was not an easy trip after he was thrown at the depths at the age of only 20.

Khusanov gave Chelsea just five minutes after his city debut last month, but Guardiola was impressed by the character and resistance of the player.

“What I like is that he is incredible for the changing room,” said the Catalan boss.

“He traveled [to the Tottenham game] Without a toothbrush and his washing bag. Nothing. Arrived here to play football. If you talk to him, he just laughs, laughs and laughs all the time, but he is a reliable player. So fast, so fast, quality with passports is exceptional. He breaks the lines. He has the ability to do it. He has to improve, but he is 20. I saw players with a lot of pace, but he is one of them.

“People love him. No complaints and so modest and I am sure that our fans will love him. It is not easy to overcome what happened against Chelsea after five minutes, but he was calm and he handled it. The games he recently played was really, very good.”

Khusanov’s immediate opportunity is to do with different injury problems at the same time as Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji. The youngster started four Premier League games and had another central defender every time.
