Player ratings as big win sends champions top of La Liga

Real Madrid recovered from a first-minute goal to convincingly beat Las Palmas 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Fabio Silva’s goal after 26 seconds was the last thing Carlo Ancelotti needed after a week in which Spanish media suggested he was under pressure, but his side quickly recovered and held their own in a game they had to win to escape Slips to capitalize on by Atlético Madrid and Barcelona.

Kylian Mbappe equalized Madrid from the penalty spot after Rodrygo was brought down, and the Frenchman played a key role in helping the 15-time Champions League winners win the game away to Las Palmas.

The Frenchman burst forward towards the penalty area after Mbappe got to the ball following a rash lunge from Juanma Herzog, and his shot attempt was well parried by Jasper Cillessen. But the rebound fell kindly to Lucas Vazquez and he turned the ball just enough for Brahim Diaz to stroll it into the empty net.

Three minutes later, Mbappe made it 3-1, deftly directing Rodrygo’s ball into the top corner with laser-like precision, and the goal sparked a passionate reaction from Ancelotti on the touchline – the Italian looked towards the director’s goal area and made a powerful ball fists in celebration.

Rodrygo put the icing on Real Madrid’s cake by turning Fran Garcia’s cross with a controlled first-time finish into Cillessen’s bottom corner before Las Palmas were reduced to ten players as Benito was shown a straight red card for hitting Vazquez high Body had caught his studs.

David Alaba came on as a substitute for Madrid in the second half and returned to action after a long break with a torn cruciate ligament.
