Manchester United could not hold on to a late lead over Lyon in the first leg Europa League Quarter -finals on Thursday evening, the game 2-2.
Thiago Almada had given Lyon the lead in the first half when his far-reaching free kick escaped everyone in the penalty area, including the United goalkeeper Andre Onana.
But United fought back to score the goal of the half by Leny Yoro – his first goal for the club since Lille’s summer appointment before taking the lead late.
The ex-Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette owed to miss two good Lyon chances in 1-1, with Joshua Zirkzeee performing for 88 minutes. However, it was not enough to bring an unit back to Old Trafford next Thursday, since Rayan Cherki ensured that the first leg even ended deep into stoppage time.
