Barcelona was beaten 3-1 by Borussia Dortmund in the second on-board of her quarter-finals of the Champions League, but still rose to the last four after a 5: 3 overall victory in both games.
Barcelona had an advantage of four goals from the first leg and was grateful for such a considerable pillow during a nervous first half in Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund reduced the deficit only 11 minutes into the collision by Serhou Guirassy’s punishment and scorned promising opportunities to further reduce La Blaugrana’s leadership before the break.
Guirassy doubled his balance for the evening just four minutes after the restart and claimed his hat trick after a mistake by Ronald Araujo, but Ramy Bensabini’s own goal between the strikes of the second half of Guinea International held the distance between Dortmund and Barcelona.
Dortmund urged to expand their lead at night, but could not complete the turnaround when Barcelona booked her place in the semi-finals, where they will either meet Inter- or Bayern Munich.
