From the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Erling Haaland returned to Tottenham Hotspur to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening.
After two games were starved by their talisman striker, City needed less than 15 minutes to be reminded of Haaland’s most valuable quality: to be in the right place at the right time. Spurs had not only been warned about this threat in the past two and a half years, but also in the seventh minute when Haaland had a weak, right -footed product that was gathered by Guglielmo Vicario.
The high -towering Norwegian was much clinical five minutes later. Four white shirts were scattered between Haaland and Jeremy Doku, but the distracted cross still found its way to the city’s front man, who got the lower corner out of the point-blank range.
Haaland continued to come at the end of the gilded opportunities, but – maybe still from the rustiness, which was caused by an unpleasant knee injury – put on his lines several times.
Tottenham took over the coat of missed opportunities for the second half. Encouraged by the nerves that were on a decreasing city herb, Spurs let the champions write to the champions for large parts of the last 45 minutes in their own defensive thirds.
Ultimately, Spurs was missing the clinical edge, the Haaland, which excluded a late goal for handball – demonstrated and ended the game with a last mistake from Pape Sarr deeply into the stop time.
