Chelsea has lifted a two-goal deficit, but will still be disappointed, with just one point from the home game on Sunday against relegation, the Ipswich Town.
In view of a glowing start of Chelsea, Ipswich somehow conspired to take over a lead of the 19th minute. George Hirst, who, in the absence of the visitor’s Liam Delap, led the line, led a quick counterattack and pushed Ben Johnson into the box with a perfectly weighted pass, which enabled the upcoming Wideman to get a first ball up to date. Julio Enciso cleverly stopped by Robert Sanchez.
The roles were reversed barely ten minutes later. At the sharp end of another striker of the visitor, Enciso cut a devilish cross in the direction of the back post, which Johnson professionally nodded into the back corner of a narrow angle. After a review of the freshly introduced semi-automatic offside technology, Johnson’s goal was given.
The second half was 18 seconds old when Axel Tuanzebe’s own goal Chelsea offered a route back to the competition. The blues continued to stack with the gate until Jadon Sancho finally had a decisive effort and put a delicious Burler in the upper corner, ten minutes before playing.
Alex Palmers Ipswich helped visitors to survive a late Flurry and raise three points to ensure that the tractor boys would avoid defeat in both games against the blues this season.
