Premier League clubs have been urged to capitalize on Barcelona’s shocking decision not to offer Robert Lewandowski a new contract.
The striker is expected to be a free agent when his current contract expires at the end of the season and Barca will not offer any new terms.

Lewandowski is in the twilight of his career, having turned 37 in August, but it’s hard to worry about his form.
The Poland captain scored 42 goals last season and has scored four in all competitions this year, despite starting just four times.
Lewandowski’s injury problems shouldn’t deter Premier League clubs next summer as he is usually kept in tip-top shape by his wife.
Who is Robert Lewandowski’s wife?
Last year, Anna Lewandowska claimed her husband was physically 11 years younger than him due to a “backward diet”.
Anna, a fitness guru and former karate world champion, attributes the striker’s unusual eating habits to staying in top shape.
“A Premier League club should sign him for at least a year,” European football broadcaster Andy Brassell told The Pitch Prospect.
“He still has a lot of potential; he was fantastic last season. He was the best in several seasons.”
“Of course we all know that his wife is a nutritionist and keeps him on a short leash, which also makes a difference.
“But overall his fitness has been excellent. He is still one of the most dangerous nines in world football!”

Barcelona reach Lewandowski contract decision
Reports from Spain broke the news that the Catalans will not be extending their star striker’s contract when it expires at the end of the season.
Brassell added: “There is a reason why Barcelona are getting rid of him and that is money.
“They’re still waiting for an absolutely gigantic contract for someone who’s 37 years old. That’s something they can’t do.
“How they can replace him with someone of this quality is hard for me to imagine. I tend to think he’s not quite gone yet.
“I wonder if they would give up on it and just give him another year and that would probably be the sensible thing from their point of view because they can’t afford to buy someone of Lewandowski’s quality now.”

“It was widely reported last week that Barcelona – and we know that clubs are not paying more for players at forward – are certainly at the highest elite level of European football on the whole.”
“But Barcelona owe well over €160 million in players they have already bought and players from a few years ago, so they still owe Jules Kounde €24.5 million.”
“They still owe Lewandowski money to buy in from the time they bought him. They still owe Leeds a surplus of €40m for Raphinha and these are not new signings.”
“So all of Barcelona’s financial projections, similar to any other football club but more so, are based on the best-case scenario.
“So the opposite of how most of us plan our daily lives.
“Of course, a large part of it is earmarked for the new Camp Nou and in particular for the sale of the catering facilities there.

“They have already saved some of the money for the coming years and put it into current accounts and that is one of the reasons why they are keen to return to the Camp Nou as quickly as possible.”
What is Lewandowski’s reverse diet?
Pep Guardiola once described Lewandowski as “the most professional player” who “thinks about proper nutrition, proper sleep and proper training around the clock.”
On the reverse nutrition diet, the Lewandowskis first eat dessert – usually a brownie – but only if it’s made with pure cocoa.
The couple then gets meat or fish and finally a salad or soup as a starter, while they also rent a sleeping car.
“No blue lights, no TV in the bedroom,” Anna told the Times. “The mattress must be of high quality.
“The smell in the room is very special. The room temperature is no more than 21 degrees Celsius.”
