PSG confirm €81m departure of Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig


RB Leipzig confirmed this signing by midfielder Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain permanently.

Simons ended from PSG from Leipzig in the summer of 2023, immediately after the French team separated with € 6 million to re -sign it from PSV Eindhoven, and saw that the loan was extended last summer after had established as the key player for Leipzig.

This step has now become permanent, whereby reports indicate that Leipzig has separated with an initial € 55 million (€ 46 million GBP) plus a further € 26 million (€ 21.8 million) in order to offer the offer to a total of 81 million .

Such a fee would be the second highest in the history of the Bundesliga, behind which only the 95 million euro takeover of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 by Bayernham Hotspur.

“I always said that I feel extremely at home in Leipzig and that I was honored to appreciate the club,” said Simons. “In the coming weeks and months, I will qualify our common goals for the Champions League for the seventh season in a row!”

In the meantime, PSG also said goodbye to the central defender Milan Skriniar, who borrowed the Turkish side Fenerbahce until the end of the season.

Skriniar was strongly connected to the Premier League or Serie A, but will now continue his career under the direction of Jose Mourinho.
