Real Madrid are beginning to suffer defeat in their bid to sign Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in January, according to a report.
Alexander-Arnold is Madrid’s top target for the summer transfer window, when he looks set to be a free agent, but the Spanish side tried their luck with a cheaper move earlier this month to ease their injury crisis to cope with the defense.
Liverpool rejected the advances almost immediately, leaving Madrid to consider another offer. Accordingly RelevoThe chances of another offer being made are incredibly slim, with Madrid accepting that a move in January will be too difficult.
Not only are Liverpool refusing to entertain the idea of selling Alexander-Arnold as they push to win the Premier League title, but the right-back has also vowed not to force a move away from his boyhood club.
Alexander-Arnold also believes a move to Spain mid-season is not the smartest move for his career. With no one at Anfield willing to listen to Madrid’s suggestions, a January transfer is effectively ruled out.
The news that Madrid have not signed Alexander-Arnold will not impress coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has reportedly clashed behind the scenes with those in charge over their unwillingness to invest in the squad this month.
Dani Carvajal’s long-term injury means Lucas Vazquez is the only recognized right-back in the squad and Ancelotti has begun to accept that there will be no reinforcements before the summer.
