Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy faces a race against the time to be against Arsenal against Arsenal for the Champions League quarter-finals of his team next month.
The enterprising full -back was forced to capture his knee tendon with seven minutes of the normal time in the European fight against Atletico Madrid a week a week. Mendy required treatment on site before gapping up.
Carlo Ancelotti’s defending champion finally found a way past her city competitor – under controversy – to book a place in the quarter -finals against Arsenal. However, Mendy’s participation in the first stage of this tie is clouded in doubt.
Spanish publication Marca revealed that Mendy would be out of the way for “three to four weeks” with a thigh problem. If the French defense lawyer uses the longer end of this projected timeline, he could expose Madrid’s trip to the Emirates Stadium of Arsenal on April 8 on April 8th.
The second leg of the quarter -finals will be staged on April 16 at the Santiago Bernabeu stage of Real, for which Mendy should almost certainly be available. But Ancelotti was rarely forced without being his full -back in European competition.
Mendy launched 11 from Madrid’s 12 Champions League games this season, a balance sheet, only the undropping Federico Valverde can do it better. In the one European game that the 29-year-old exit, Fran Garcia filled.
The Spanish terrier was regularly shot with Mendy in La Liga, but Ancelotti trusts the more experienced defender on the continental stage. The Italian manager, who received his share of critics in his career in Madrid, never slowly praised. At the end of last season, Ancelotti welcomed him as “the best left -back in the world at a defensive level”.
Even the head coach in love has admitted that Mendy could work on his attacking articles -the backup goalkeeper from Real Madrid, Andriy Lunin, can work with his outfield teammate for La Liga Assists (one) this season. Nevertheless, the experienced defender against Arsenal is painfully overlooked if he cannot overcome this latest setback from fitness.
