Spain’s Clasico rivals meet in Jeddah on Sunday evening for the 2025 Supercopa de Espana final.
After Barcelona beat Athletic Club 2-0 in the first semi-final on Wednesday night, Real Madrid finally got the job done the following evening after failing in the first hour against Mallorca. After Jude Bellingham scored the first goal, Madrid cruised to a 3-0 victory to set up a repeat of the 2024 final.
These two have faced each other in two Supercopa de Espana finals, with Madrid the current defending champions after a 4-1 win over Barca in Riyadh. In 2023, Xavis Blaugrana put in an outstanding performance with a 3-1 win.
Sunday’s finalists are expected to fight hard for La Liga this season and this competition could give the winner a big psychological advantage. However, Atletico Madrid, who beat Barca before Christmas, are also well in the running and will be fresh for the restart of La Liga.
Here is 90 minutes Instructions for the game.

Madrid lined up for the semi-final against Mallorca as expected, but Ancelotti might be more encouraged to make a move than his counterpart, considering his side were in action 24 hours after Barcelona’s win against Athletic Club.
Should the Italian decide to reshuffle, Arda Guler, Fran Garcia, Dani Ceballos and Brahim Diaz are most likely to join the team. However, Carletto will likely risk a possible burnout for Sunday’s finale.
David Alaba was among the substitutes on Thursday and could be used here as Aurelien Tchouameni sustained a head injury against Mallorca. Luka Modric was missing last time out due to illness and is unlikely to feature.
Expected Real Madrid line-up against Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Vazquez, Tchouameni, Rüdiger, Mendy; Valverde, Camavinga; Rodrygo, Bellingham; Vinicius, Mbappe.
Barcelona have Ronald Araujo available in Saudi Arabia but Flick is unlikely to abandon his centre-back pairing for Sunday’s final after they kept a clean sheet on Wednesday.
Dani Olmo has been given a temporary permit to play after his original registration with the club expires at the end of 2024, but the Spaniard will not be involved here. Gavi was used in a more advanced role against Athletic Club and put in an outstanding performance.
Flick’s squad has become healthier in the new year with Araujo and Andreas Christenen back in contention, but they are still without long-term absentee Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Predicted line-up of Barcelona against Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Balde; Casado, Pedri; Yamal, Fermin, Raphinha; Lewandowski.
The previous three winners of this competition have won La Liga, although the race at the top is likely to be much tighter this time. Perhaps the boost brought by the triumph in Jeddah will ultimately prove to be a decisive advantage.
With both managers unlikely to change after their semi-final victories, we could be in for a drawn-out finale and the battle could be decided from the bench.
Madrid are seeking revenge after a home defeat in the Clasico in October and are likely to be favorites here despite Barca’s subdued performance on Wednesday. On big occasions where the trophy is on the line, Madrid usually gets the job done. They are already in the hunt for their third trophy of the 2024/25 season.
