The head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, has confessed that he has already been “emphasized” about the upcoming Europa League final of his team.
The Red Devils booked their place in the final with a comprehensive two -legged victory over the Athletic Club and now meet Tottenham Hotspur on May 21 to fight for the trophy and sixth place in England in the Champions League of the next season.
It is an enormous game for both sides, the miserable domestic campaigns of which could be saved with the victory, and Amorim confessed to the idea of observing United’s season in further disappointment how he is already burdening his mind.
“I am already stressed because of the final,” he said. “If we don’t, it doesn’t mean anything. But we are happy to be there, so let’s see. It will be a big final and we will try to win.
“It is difficult to describe what it is like to be the manager of this club, and they want to give the supporters something because we were so disappointing in the Premier League.
“It is the least we can do for these fans for the support you gave us this hard season.”
The qualification for the Champions League has an obvious financial reward – potentially around 70 million pounds – but Amorim believes that the greatest advantage for winning the Europa League would be the impact on his squad.
“The money is not the most important thing,” he continued. “Even the title [is not the most important thing].
“It is the feeling that we can do things, the feeling of giving our fans something. It’s not just about playing the Champions League. It is the feeling that we can change things.”
