The head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, admitted that the profit of the Europa League and thus the qualification for the Champions League would bring many advantages, warned that “the problems are still there”, regardless of their continental success.
Amorim took over a United team in November, which collapsed in the 12th place in the Premier League table. In the following six months, the Red Devils fell on the 14th and crashed from the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup while publishing a flood of unwanted records.
However, the campaign can still end in European fame. Manchester United was paired before a potential finale against one of Bodo/Glimt or Tottenham Hotspur with the Athletic Club in the semi -finals of the Europa League.
Amorim is still not impressed. “[Winning a trophy] is not the most important, “the Portuguese boss sighed.” Of course, people will search for this season in a different way, especially for the trainer. Here, too, it is a little more in the core of our club.
“We have to change many things and we have to be consistent. The Europa League will not change anything in our problems – the Champions League will give us more money next year – but the problems are still there.”
United is around 100 million GBP by qualifying for the first European Premier Club competition. Amorim admitted that such a windfall would dramatically change the caliber of the players who aimed in the upcoming transfer window, but insisted that the qualification would not define his term.
“It could change our summer and change in the next few years,” he noted. “We have to deal with many things in our club, and we will go well with the Champions League or without Champions League.”
Amorim has thrown some light on what he wants from United: “We have to change the minds of our fans with consistency, good decisions, good recruitment, good academy. We have to change that to bring our club back to the top.
“This is more of a abbreviation to go to the European games. Nothing more. The problems have to solve in other ways with more time, and we are really clear.”
