Ruben Amorim rushes to defence of underfire Man Utd forward

The head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, defended his much criticized striker Rasmus Hojlund and blamed the drought of the dane due to the lack of service by his teammates.

In his last 16 appearances in all competitions for United, Hojlund did not score a single goal. In a more comprehensive development, the Denmark international has not even registered a shot in seven of these empty excursions.

Amorim has tried to point out that this lack of clinical edge is a collective discomfort. United achieved only 30 league goals this season – only four clubs have lower goals. “I think it is clear,” sighed the Red Devils boss this week, “we as a team don’t help Rasmus. We don’t create many chances. We have a lack of threats and you can feel it in the games.

“Sometimes we are in the last third, but they don’t feel coach that we don’t help the strikers.

“I think Rasmus has a lot of potential. When we improve the way we play the game it is difficult.

Hojlund only achieved two top goals this season. The 22-year-old looked at ten in his debut premier League campaign after moving to Old Trafford to get a sum that could rise to 72 million GBP. This overwhelming form has led to rumors that some members of the united “patience” of the coaching team lose in their No. 9. Amorim does not share this view.

“We have to see Rasmus as a player – he has pace and he has the technology, he scores some goals that are really difficult to score,” said Amorim. “Sometimes he didn’t choose the better run, sometimes he strives to touch the ball that in training and sometimes it has to be the player’s trust, but especially the way we play.

“It is more of a team matter than a Rasmus thing. If we improve, Rasmus will improve and I have this feeling.”
