Ruben Amorim is reportedly backing Manchester United to re-sign Angel Gomes as part of their overhaul at Old Trafford.
A product of the Premier League giants’ academy, Gomes made ten appearances for the senior team before being released in 2020.

He moved to French club Lille, where he played 129 times and was recently part of interim English coach Lee Carsley’s squad.
Gomes’ development has caught the attention of new United manager Amorim, who according to The Sun is ‘behind’ a potential move for the midfielder.
Sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox are said to believe the 24-year-old could be key to their plans.
Amorim is a “long-time admirer” of Gomes, whose contract with Lille expires next summer.

He can therefore speak to clubs about a pre-contractual agreement in January, with another club, Tottenham, showing interest.
However, United believe they can tempt Gomes as a possible long-term option for 32-year-old Casemiro to complete a return to the club.
The Brazilian’s performances have come under scrutiny in recent months, particularly after he was responsible for Liverpool’s first two goals in a 3-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season.
Casemiro was substituted at half-time for youngster Toby Collyer but has since returned to regular midfield duties for United.
Galatasaray were interested in a summer move for the former Real Madrid star before the Turkish transfer window closed on September 13.
However, a deal failed to materialize and Casemiro, who has also been linked with a transfer to Saudi Arabia, has two years left on his contract.

While this is not a guarantee of an exit, he could be one of two midfielders looking to leave next summer.
Christian Eriksen’s contract expires at the end of the season and there are no ongoing negotiations for an extension.
However, Amorim’s opinion on the Dane will be taken into account as the Portuguese coach is currently preparing for his first game at United.
His first appearance on the sidelines after permanently replacing Erik ten Hag comes this Sunday when they travel to Ipswich Town.
The 39-year-old will then be tasked with reviving United’s Europa League campaign against FK Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening.
A busy festive season awaits him in the coming weeks, with games against Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham coming up in December.
