Sports Minister Saudi Arabia has put down the country’s interest in the country signing Liverpool Mohamed Salah’s striker before signing his new contract.
There were significant connections between Salah and the Saudi Pro league for most of two years and it was generally expected that the Egyptian striker would bring his talents to the Middle East this summer if Liverpool did not meet his demands for a new contract.
It has been reported this month that Saudi officials were still confident that they were contracted in Salah this summer, but speculation was brought to an immediate and concrete end when Liverpool’s Talisman in Anfield concluded a new two -year contract.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal, the sports minister of the super wealthy gulf nation, admitted that Salah was the caliber of the player.
“I mean, he is a superstar,” Al-Faisal told the media. “He is a legendary Arab Muslim. It fits the identity of playing in the Saudi league.
“It was his decision to renew Liverpool, but the linking of Saudi Arabia with him and everything … I think they link Saudi Arabia with him from the first day. There were no discussions. But it is good to have that.
“Now you can see that every player who wants to extend his contract extends. [the media] Say that they come to Saudi Arabia and most of them, 90% of them, is not true. But I think we have a strategy we are working on and everyone says that we only sign players. “
While the Saudi -Pro league attracted international attention by signing aging superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and N’Golo edge, there was an obvious shift to younger talents such as Marcos Leonardo, Jhon Duran, Moussa Diaba, Mohamed Simakan and Angelo.
“When you see the last number of players we signed or the club signed, mainly young players who want to develop the league are,” added al-faisal. “It makes the league very competitive.
“I’m not sure if you will follow the league this year, but the competition in the top four clubs is incredible.”
