Napoli have attempted to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, The Pitch Prospect has learned.
The Italians prefer a loan deal, while United would prefer a permanent exit, with McTominay valued at up to £30 million.

The sale of the Scottish international would make it easier for the Red Devils to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
Erik ten Hag has made signing a new defensive midfielder his top priority as he looks to compete with Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo.
And McTominay could be the man sacrificed, as any potential sale would be pure profit given the 27-year-old is a product of the club’s academy.
Since his debut in the 2016/17 season, McTominay has scored 29 goals in 253 appearances in all competitions.
His best season was last season, when he contributed ten goals and three assists in 43 games.
But his future is uncertain this summer as his contract with the Theatre of Dreams expires next year.
And United know that now is the right time to cash in on McTominay so as not to lose him for nothing in 2025.
Turkish giants Galatasaray confirmed last month that they were interested in the player.
McTominay now also has admirers in the Premier League.
The Pitch Prospect reported in July that a bid from Fulham was rejected by United because it fell below the club’s valuation.

West Ham are now known to be fans of him after failing to bring him to East London last summer.
McTominay came on as a substitute in United’s Community Shield defeat to rivals Manchester City last weekend.
He converted the penalty shootout, in which Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans had missed, and secured the Citizens’ triumph at Wembley.
And the midfielder is likely to feature in the club’s Premier League opener against Fulham on Friday night.
United welcome the Cottagers to Old Trafford, which you can hear live on The Pitch Prospect.
