After Bournemouth expressly ended his unbeaten series last weekend, Newcastle United went to Southampton on the long way to return to the winning road.
The magpies were amazed by Andoni Iraolas Cherries at the beginning of the kick-off when Justin Kluivert scored a hat trick in the 4-1 away win. Previously, Eddie Howe’s men had won eight times in a row in all competitions.
Although Newcastle falls back to sixth place in the Premier League table, it has a good chance to secure a place in the top four. You also have a great opportunity to defeat your demons from last Saturday against the bottom of the league.
Southampton remains rooted at the end of the table and has not yet won a league victory under Ivan Juric. The Saints were probably more competitive under the experienced Serie-A coach, but their six points in 22 games mean that they need a miracle to stay in the Premier League.

Tyler Dibling was one of Southampton’s very few stars this season, but will not be in use this weekend due to an ankle injury.
Kamaldeen Sulemana, who impressed in Old Trafford less than ten days ago, also fails because of a thigh injury.
Aaron Ramsdale is another new problem because Juric suspects that his number one player has injured his upper body, but there is hope that the former Arsenal goalkeeper will be fit again on Saturday.
Ross Stewart, Gavin Bazunu and Jack Stephens are to return in February.
Estimated list of Southampton against Newcastle (5-3-2): Ramsdale; Walker-Peters, Bree, Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis, Manning; Downes, Fernandes, Aribo; Archer, Onuachu.
It looks as if Martin Dubravka will stay in Newcastle this month, and the replacement goalkeeper is facing a further start between the posts, since Nick Pope continues to suffer from a knee injury.
Callum Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles are missing, while Harvey Barnes is a relatively new new addition to the injury list.
Last weekend, the Magpies showed signs of fatigue against a top -class team from Bournemouth, so it will be interesting to see whether howe decides to make changes in the last month.
Estimated list of Newcastle against Southampton (4-3-3): Dubravka; Trippier, Botman, Schar, Hall; Guimaraes, Tonali, Willock; Murphy, Isak, Gordon.
Southampton’s services under Juric were not that bad, and a reasonable approach made it possible for the Saints to be more competitive. In their last two games, they almost got a result from Manchester United before defending themselves against Nottingham Forest and saving almost one point.
The players have not yet completely given up and Newcastle must be on the hat after a convincing defeat. You can’t survive the game on Saturday.
However, the Saints simply don’t know how to collect points. They may compete hard here, but Newcastle, who finally enjoyed a week break, should be able to shake off the spinning weavers and win them away.
