Sporting CP confirm fee in Chelsea’s double Geovany Quenda & Dario Essugo transfer

Sporting CP has confirmed that Chelsea has a complete agreement for the permanent permanent transfer From emerging talents Geovany Quenda and Dario Esgo.

Chelsea has made it a business in recent years to recruit young players with long-term potential and ripe development area, and the 17-year-old Quenda in particular is considered one of the best views on the continent.

However, buying talents is not cheap, and Sporting has confirmed that the deal with Chelsea is worth up to € 74.4 million for both players – including add -ons.

Quenda, who was strongly connected to Manchester United after the breakthrough in Lisbon under Ruben Amorim, accounts for most of this amount with € 52 million (€ 43.6 million). With only minimal add-ons worth € 1.4 million (€ 1.1 million), almost the entire fee is guaranteed.

For Essugo, which is currently loaned with Las Palmas in La Liga, it is a firmer and a total of € 22.3 million (18.7 million GBP).

Both will complete the current season with their respective teams. While Quenda will spend the night in Sporting for the 2025/26 campaign, it is linked to Chelsea in summer with Chelsea.

After Quenda had played for the B-Team from Sporting in Portugal in Portugal last season, he was promoted to the first team squad before the current campaign. He was initially a staple in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system as a right back when the team won each of his first 11 league Portugal games.

In a tactical shift after Amorim’s departure to Manchester United, Quenda has recently been operated on as a conventional left flank on the field on the square on the opposite flank. If nothing else, the impressive versatility of the Portugal is highlighted internationally.

Esgo has been trained by Sporting since the age of nine and celebrated a surprising debut from the first team less than a week after his 16th birthday in 2021 – also under Amorim’s instructions.

The midfielder spent the next few seasons to split up between the B team and the senior squad before he was regularly loaned in top flight waves in the second half of 2023/24. Since then he has started all 17 La league games for Las Palmas, for which he has been available since his debut at the end of September.
