The English manager Thomas Tuchel encouraged Marcus Rashford not to “fall back on old routines” after his bright start in Aston Villa.
Rashford moved at the end of the winter transmission window after a complete summary in the relationship with Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese boss repeatedly criticized the work rate of his striker and reported that his activity outside the field was not impressed.
After Rashford had spent six weeks on the edge for United for United, he started strongly for Aston Villa and set up a productive relationship with Marco Asensio in winter recruitment. Tuchel was adequately praise for the 27-year-old.
“With Marcus, he is a familiar face, but another situation,” the incoming international manager told the media gathered. “I had the feeling that he had a big impact on the Aston Villa, he mostly had a major impact on the bench. The influence was impressive. The physical effects were impressive and, above all, his work rate, his defensive ability and his traceable were impressive.
“I had the strong feeling that we should nominate, bring him in and push him to stay at this level so as not to use old routines,” added Tuchel clearly. “This camp should urge him to stay at this level.”
Rashford was long before Amorim was appointed United, had fallen out of the dispute over the national team. Gareth Southgate gave the striker his 60th and recent upper limit in March 2024 for a friendly against Brazil. Rashford was then overlooked for the squad, which reached the final of Euro 2024 and was not visible in the meantime of Lee Carsley.
Tuchel’s English contract only extends until the end of the 2026 World Cup, which is organized jointly by the USA, Canada and Mexico. When he made it clear, every selection is made with this tournament, and every player involved has the chance to give.
“Anyone who is with us on this trip and in this first camp is a candidate for the World Cup,” surfed Tuchel. “Every player is part of this first step. At the same time, it is only the first step, so nomination is not the nomination for America.
“We had difficult decisions and we didn’t make it easy for ourselves. We waited very long until the Champions League games were over until we made our last decisions. It is important to be in the first camp, and when you are in the first camp, you are in the first step of the trip.”
