Tottenham Hotspur should sell Micky van de Ven for £100million – they already have ready-made replacement

Tottenham Hotspur have been told that selling Micky van de Ven for £100m is a given with Luka Vuskovic waiting in the wings.

Van de Ven is believed to be pushing to leave Spurs this summer, The Pitch Prospect understands, but the club won’t make it easy for him.

Van de Ven has played 80 games for Tottenham but is considering a move.

Thomas Frank’s side value the in-demand Dutchman, who is under contract until 2029, at over £100 million.

Such a transfer would make Van de Ven, who arrived from Wolfsburg for £43 million in 2023, the most expensive defender in football history.

Liverpool are one of the clubs said to be interested in the 24-year-old, who was on the radar before his move to north London.

Van de Ven himself even admitted last month that he had turned down a request from Arne Slot when the Reds boss was at Feyenoord.

When asked whether the Spurs should sell if Slot returned with a world record offer for his compatriot, Sonny Snelling responded The Pitch Prospect’s Inside Spurs panel: “A hundred million for a centre-back still known for his injury record?

“Yes, I think you have to do that, it’s a given for me. I feel like maybe we can invest the money in other areas.”

“And I think we already have a replacement ready to come into the team and fill in for him: Luka Vuskovic.”

Tottenham loanee Vuskovic has proven to be a sensation so far during his season with Bundesliga returnees Hamburg.
