Hojbjerg was signed from Southampton for an initial fee of £15 million.

The 28-year-old was a mainstay in the Spurs team under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

However, since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, Hojbjerg has lost his starting place to Yves Bissouma.

The Dane was nevertheless an important player for Spurs, taking part in 36 of their 38 Premier League games, but only starting eight times.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Sarr were also the favorites, with a point lead over Hojbjerg.

Juventus and AC Milan are believed to be interested in the services of the former Bayern Munich star.

Hojbjerg is likely to be included in Denmark’s squad for Euro 2024.

If selected, he could face England in Group C on June 20.

As a defensive midfielder, Hojbjerg is not known as a goalscorer, but during his time in north London he was involved in important goals for Tottenham.

Goals against Chelsea and Marseille were crucial for Spurs in the 2022/23 season, with the latter securing their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
