Transfer notebook: Liverpool star puts himself in shop window, former Chelsea man linked with Premier League return, ex-West Ham boss back to English football?

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will use Alisson’s release to put himself in the spotlight.

Kelleher is expected to play a number of games amid fears the Brazilian could be sidelined for several weeks due to the hamstring injury Alisson sustained in Saturday’s win at Crystal Palace.

Kelleher has proven time and time again that he can do more than just replace Alisson – but he wants to be number 1.

Republic of Ireland international Kelleher has made no secret of his desire to leave Liverpool and remains committed to being No1.

Nottingham Forest were among the clubs interested in signing Kelleher in the summer and at least one offer was rejected.

While Liverpool recognize the 25-year-old’s potential, they also respect his personal ambitions, especially after signing Giorgi Mamardashvili as Alisson’s future successor.

The Reds value Kelleher at around £30m.

Wood for the trees

Nottingham Forest are set to begin talks with in-form striker Chris Wood over a new contract.

The 33-year-old has scored 18 goals in just 27 Premier League starts for Forest, including four in the first seven games this season, and has become a key man for Forest coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

As it stands, the New Zealander will be a free agent when his current contract expires at the end of the season, but Nuno is understandably keen to tie him down.

Forest are already in advanced talks with full-back Ola Aina about agreeing a long-term deal at the City Ground.

England star back in Prem?

Ruben Loftus-Cheek could return to the Premier League in January.

Sources close to the former Chelsea midfielder told The Pitch Prospect his name had been passed on to clubs such as West Ham.

Loftus-Cheek was a key player for AC Milan after arriving from England, but is now lower in the rankings in Italy.

Loftus-Cheek took a pay cut to join AC Milan last summer but has found himself on the substitutes’ bench in recent weeks.

The 1.80 meter tall England international, who has made ten international appearances for his country, played more than 150 Premier League games for Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Fulham.

Do you fit the picture?

Former West Ham and Croatia manager Slaven Bilic has held talks with managerless Cardiff City, The Pitch Prospect has learned.

Some senior figures in Cardiff believe an experienced head is needed to lift them from the bottom of the Championship table, with ex-Wales boss Ryan Giggs also being discussed as a possible option.

Bilic, who has also managed Watford and West Brom, has been unemployed since leaving Saudi Arabian club Al Fateh in August.

Reading’s Ruben Selles also has admirers in the Bluebird hierarchy.
