Roefs has been one of the standout goalkeepers in the Premier League for Sunderland this season.

The impressive Roefs, a bargain £11m deal bought by NEC Nijmegen last summer, are among the options to replace Vicario.

23-year-old Netherlands international Roefs has kept seven clean sheets in the Premier League this season and only Burnley’s Martin Dubravka has kept more.

He is under contract with the Stadium of Light until 2030.

The Premier League duo have their sights set on outsiders Chelsea

Axel Disasi is a player to keep an eye on in the final week of the transfer window.

Disasi was recently reinstated into first-team training by Chelsea’s so-called ‘Bomb Squad’ but has not played for the Blues since May 2024.

Chelsea’s recall of Aaron Anselmino from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund has only pushed Disasi further down the pecking order.

West Ham and Crystal Palace are among the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the Frenchman before the window closes next Monday.

The frozen sterling will remain in the cold

One player who will be left behind at Stamford Bridge is Raheem Sterling.
