Windass has received rave reviews at Hillsborough this season as he scored ten Championship goals at half-time.

This is the highest goal he has scored in his sixth season in England’s second division.

This also includes a goal by the 2025 season contender against Derby on New Year’s Day, in which Windass hit the net from his own half.

And his impressive form has caught the attention of Santos, who have officially registered their interest in the former Wigan striker.

His former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha – now in charge at Santos – is looking forward to reuniting with the player who worked with him from March 2017 to October 2017.

And speaking to Shaun Custis and Henry Winter on Sunday Edition, Windass confirmed that an offer had indeed come in for him.

Custis commented on a reported £10 million offer, leading to Windass quipping: “I don’t think it’s that much!”

Regarding the offer and a possible reunion with Caixinha, Windass said: “I used to work with him.”

“To be honest, it was a surprise when my agent called me this morning.”

Although Windass, who will become a free agent in the summer, ultimately remained reticent about a move, as he said: “I love playing where I play.”

“When your contract expires and things like that, of course there will always be discussions, as there always are.”

“It was a surprise this morning because I haven’t spoken to Pedro or seen him for a long time.

“But it is what it is, when you’re in shape, things like that happen.”

Windass was then reminded that three-time World Cup winner Pelé spent 18 years at Santos.

To which he joked: “I know, he wasn’t bad, was he!”

“To be honest I’m not sure any Hull-born players have played in Brazil so we’ll have to see.”

Should Windass decide to embark on a new adventure in South America, he could trade a play-off push for a title shot.

Wednesday are currently tenth in the table – three points behind the top six – while Santos are currently at the top of Brazil’s Serie B.
