West Ham make transfer decision as Niclas Fullkrug set for long-term absence

West Ham United are looking to make a move in the January transfer window after another serious injury setback.

New signing Niclas Fullkrug’s season has been marked by injury problems.

Fullkrug’s season took another bad turn against Aston Villa.

At the start of the season, the German international had to remain on the sidelines due to an Achilles tendon problem, meaning he was only used eleven times in all competitions.

Only four of those were starts and another in the FA Cup against Aston Villa lasted just 15 minutes.

He fell from the ball to the ground, clutching his thigh muscles and had to limp off the field.

The Pitch Prospect assumes that he will now be out for three months.

That’s why the Hammers, under new manager Graham Potter, are making it a point to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.

The Hammers have already lost captain and star striker Jarrod Bowen to a broken foot.

He is expected to be out until early March due to the injury he sustained in the 5-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool.

“Unfortunately, I suffered a broken bone in my foot during the first half of our game on Sunday,” Bowen wrote on Instagram.

“As always, I tried to keep fighting and keep playing until I was physically unable to do it anymore.

“Injuries happen in football, but I’m looking forward to getting back out there as soon as possible. See you soon.”

The Pitch Prospect revealed earlier this week that West Ham had been asked to be briefed on the Marcus Rashford situation.

The Manchester United striker is likely to leave the club sooner or later as several clubs are interested.

Naples, Juventus, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are among those who seem interested the English striker.

A loan move is the most likely deal that could be completed in the January transfer window.

Rashford’s £300,000 salary is also a potential stumbling block to any move for the England international.

In December he emphasized that he was ready for a new challenge.

Rashford has had a tough season at Old Trafford and is thinking about his future.

Speaking to esteemed journalist Henry Winter, Rashford said: “Personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.

“When I leave, there will be no hard feelings. You won’t get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. This is who I am as a person.”

“If I know a situation is already bad, I won’t make it worse. I’ve seen other players leave in the past and I don’t want to be that person.”

“When I leave, I will make a statement and it will be 100 percent mine.”

Rashford added: “I’m halfway through my career. I don’t expect to reach my climax now.

“I have been in the Premier League for nine years so far and have learned a lot from it, which has helped me grow as a player and as a person.”

“So I don’t regret the last nine years.

“I won’t have any regrets in the future because I take things day by day and sometimes bad things happen, sometimes good things happen. I just try to keep a good balance.”
