Why Kylian Mbappe has invested in France’s SailGP team


As early as March 2025, Kylian Mbappé did a surprising business by buying a participation in the France SailGP team.

Through his venture capital company Coalition Capital, Mbappé became the team’s official charity partner and competed in a diverse group of global racing championship by the investors, which includes the F1 driver Sebastian Vettel, who sponsors the German team and the actors Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, co-owner of the Australian team.

In a recent interview with The athleteReal Madrid’s superstar opened his reasons for investing in the team.

“Well, the first is that as French I always wanted to support my compatriots,” said Mbappé. “I always wanted to support French sport, it was a first factor.”

He also emphasized the social effects of Sailgp: “The second is that Sailgp does many things social for children. And it is really something that was able to involve me with joy because we share many values ​​and have planned many projects for the future.”

The Mbappés from the Kylian Mbappé (IBKM) Foundation, founded in 2020, is intended to help young people find instructions and purposes in their lives. Through his partnership with the French SailGP team, he creates opportunities for some of the 98 teenagers and young adults in his program to experience the first-hand thrill of the high-ranking competition.

“I want you to have freedom to create your own experiences, your own memories because you are the ones you will live,” he said.

“You will also learn the importance of the victim and the importance of hard work because you see how much work it takes to achieve a result and the preparation for a big competition. Of course I don’t know what you are doing in the future with your life, but you will see the mental preparation of seafarers in the future how much self -control and management of emotions are involved.”

Mbappé admitted his own sailing competence that it is still limited – but he strives to learn it as a potential new passion beyond football and sees it as a potential new passion.

“I am a very curious person and I try to develop more and more to gain as much knowledge as possible,” he said. “So it will really be a great learning experience for me, because sailing is not a area that I know very well.

“I never wanted to close doors for my post -Karger. I never wanted to say anything, so we’ll see, but I have a lot to do before I think about what comes afterwards.”
