World Cup draw LIVE: talkSPORT in the USA as England and Scotland await grand occasion with Village People on star-studded line-up

Dalot: “It’s our fault”

Manchester United goalscorer Diogo Dalot speaks to Sky Sports: “Disappointed. With 30 minutes to go it’s 1-0, I think we need to control the game a lot more.”

“Especially at Old Trafford. We can’t be as nervous as we were after the goal. We were perhaps a little more careless with possession.”

“Of course I was disappointed with the draw. We had the game there.”

On their lack of control: “That’s the solution we have to find. There can be different things. It shouldn’t be like this because you fight for 60 minutes to score a goal and then when it happens you should keep doing the same things, even more control, longer possession so we can dominate.”

“Especially the play that goes into the corner that we conceded – that’s the type of play we need to avoid, especially against teams who are good at counter-attacking.”

“And we knew today that they would rely on counterattacks and set pieces and unfortunately we couldn’t hold on to the result, but in the end we have to look at ourselves – I think that’s more our fault than a credit to West Ham.”

On his first Premier League goal at Old Trafford: “It’s a great feeling. Any time you have the opportunity to score for a club like this, it’s great.”

“Especially at the Stretford End. But in the end the taste isn’t the same, I wouldn’t mind changing that for the three points. But I’m happy to help the team in any way, be it with a goal or whatever.”

“But a result like that just gives you something to look at. We can’t win at home with 30 minutes to go and not control the game.”

On the significance of the result: “I think it’s huge. We’re at a time of year when you can’t lose too many points, otherwise the gap to the top will become even greater.”

“This season the gap is short, but there will come a time when everyone will split up and we want to be there, we want to be in the top four, top five. That’s the goal, we have to be there.”

“Today we had a great chance, I think that’s why the disappointment is even greater.”
