Wrexham’s first summer signing is star who humiliated Liverpool


Wrexham set a serious tensor marker before the championship season.

The Welsh Club, which is in the championship for the first time in 43 years, signed the Plymouth Argyle striker Ryan Hardie.

Hardie signed a contract by the end of the 2027/28 season and becomes the first signing of the summer.

“I am very happy to do the movement. I am very happy to do it so early and I can’t wait to get started,” said Hardie.

“Getting a complete pre -season will be a massive advantage to be integrated into the squad and learn how the manager plays and know that everyone is important.

“In the last few seasons it was good to get experience in the championship and it is experience that I can now rely on. I enjoyed playing there and I managed to score a few goals, so this can continue this season.

“I love how family-oriented the club is, the community is all together and it is really a one-club city.

“Everything has to do with football, and I’m very happy to be part of it – I will give everything I have for the badge.”

The 28-year-old appears after a season in which he scored 12 goals in 40 games in all competitions for the pilgrims.

One of them came from the penalty point in Argyle’s breathtaking 1-0 disorder from Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

It was a monumental result when Liverpool’s hopes of winning it four times killed.

Hardie ended the 2024/25 championship campaign in strong form when he started nine times in his last 14 games.

The Scot will join an unit of attack in which the former Burnley marker Jay Rodriguez and Sam Smith, who became the club’s record list in January, when he arrived for £ 2 million.

Hardie will also compete with other strikers for a place in the starting line -up with other strikers. The latter couple jumped on board when the Welsh team was in the National League.

“I am very happy to welcome Ryan Hardie in the club,” said Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson.

“We look forward to working with him and I am sure that everyone is very welcome.”

Hardie has 77 championship appearances in his name and has achieved 22 times.

He has also reached double -digit numbers in his last four seasons for Argyle in the first League 1 and in the championship.

The 28-year-old started his career at Scottish Giants Rangers when he made his way through the academy before he received his senior debut in September 2014.

He continued to only make 17 appearances for his youth club when he was loaned to Raith Rovers, St. Mirren and Livingston.

Hardie came to the League in July 2019, but only took six months with the mandarins when Argyle called in January 2020 with a six -month loan.

The Scotsman would borrow another season in Home Park before its move in January 2020 was permanently made.
